The decisions
Nordic makes two bicycles. Both are built on the same 6061 aluminium frame, with the same carbon fork, the same Mahle X20 rear hub motor, the same Formula Cura brakes, and the same Supernova lighting. The difference between them is one thing: the drivetrain.
The Series 01 uses Shimano and a chain. The Series 02 uses Pinion Smart Shift Pro and Gates Carbon Drive. Every other decision is identical. That is not a coincidence – it is the point.
Pinion Smart Shift Pro

Fully enclosed. Electronically controlled. Nine gears, shiftable under full load, in all weather, for the lifetime of the bicycle. The weight is the price of a system that never needs adjustment.
Mahle X20
3.2 kg total system
A rear hub motor – housed in the rear wheel, invisible in the frame. The drive unit weighs 1.39 kg. The complete system, including battery and head unit, weighs approximately 3.2 kg. No visible display. No intrusive housing. The lightest premium e-bike system available.

Everything else on both models was chosen with the same care. The carbon fork, the Formula Cura brakes, the Supernova lighting, the Mahle X20 motor – these are not Series 02 exclusives. They are Nordic.

Runs without oil. Without noise. Without thought. The lifespan of a Gates belt exceeds any chain by a considerable margin.
6061 Aluminium
The alloy of aerospace and high-performance cycling. Strong, light, precise in its response to the geometry designed around it.
Series 01 and Series 02
The Series 01 weighs 13.5 kg. The Series 02 weighs 15.5 kg. The 2 kg difference is the Pinion Smart Shift Pro gearbox and the Gates Carbon Drive belt – nothing else. Same frame. Same fork. Same motor. Same brakes. Same lights. One choice separates them.
